Another hot day before much needed rain chances return

Hurricane Idalia made landfall as a major category 3 hurricane with max sustained winds of 125 mph but helped drop in drier air here while temps remained in the 90s. We'll stay hot on Thursday before an upper level system puts much needed rain chances back in the forecast for the Labor Day weekend.

Lows tonight could dip into the 60s for some on the Northshore with drier air that's worked in. Most of us will drop into the 70s.

It's still hot on Thursday but the humidity should be VERY nice with dew points in the 60s. Highs will still be in the 90s.

Rain chances return on Friday with an upper level system helping to develop scattered showers and storms. The location of this system will determine where storms will be likeliest. If it sets up just west of us, where most forecast data have it right now, then we'll have a good shot at storm each day from Friday through Labor Day Monday. But these types of systems are notorious for not being forecast very well, so we'll keep rain chances at about at 50/50 shot and keep you informed and what changes come that will affect the forecast the closer we get.

Here's your seven day forecast:
